How to spot - and avoid - Fake News

Michael provides research and reference help for Cornell students and faculty and teaches library research skills in the social sciences and humanities, on chat reference, and via e-mail in Olin Library at Cornell.  He teaches research classes and workshops on news evaluation, and purchases reference materials and Anglo-American news sources for the library.

Engle gave a presentation recently at the Just Because Center on different tactics to determine the accuracy of information before spreading it.

Detailed information on how to evaluate news stories is available on Michael’s website: Evaluating News Sources http://guides.library.cornell.edu/evaluate_news
